Once the whole outside of the top part of the hat is covered in fabric and both sides of the rim. first with a layer of mod podge then stick the fabric on. Once you have a bunch of pieces cut start covering your hat. I don't know exactly how much fabric you will need but a half yard of 3-4 different fabrics should be enough. These are meant to simulate patches on a hat. Get your mod podge out and cut your fabric pieces into random triangle and squarish shapes. Refer to the photos above to get an idea of what I mean. These notches will be folded up and glued to the top portion of your hat to connect them together. Cut out your doughnut shape.Ĭut notches all around the inner circle of your brim. Now find something that is about five inches larger than your hat this will make the outer brim of your hat. To get your inner circle find something like a plate that is around a half inch smaller than the opening of your hat. Basically we are going to make a doughnut shape. The hole will get considerably smaller once you attach the brim so be careful not to make the hat too tight. Make sure to taper the hat so that the top is larger than the bottom. Once adjusted right.be sure it is very loose fitting on your head at this point. Once you have made your measurements and created your template, cut it out and form it on your head. You will use the same technique to make a larger hat. I used this template to make a sample hat for my daughters doll (I didn't want to waste a whole sheet of poster board making a full sized hat. Add 1 inch to the measurement, this will give you the length you need to start you own template. You will need to measure around your head with a tape measure (like the kind you use for sewing) or wrap a string around your head and measure the string with a ruler. In fact, the plot of this movie deals with Alice going on a rescue mission to save the Hatter. That was the case in the first film and it will be again this time around. One of the major changes to the formula is that Alice, while still technically the film’s main character, shares a great deal of her screen time with Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter. This allows them to make some pretty major changes to the world, the characters, and the story. While the Disney films are based on the original works by author Lewis Carroll, and have even borrowed his book titles for their own, the movies are designed as sequels to the novels rather than adaptations. Is that the reason for the nicer clothes? Or is this a younger version of the Mad Hatter before he became the man we know? The new film includes time travel, so it’s difficult to know for sure. While we don’t really know what’s going on in this image, we can surmise that the two are attending some sort of formal event. He still has his flashy bowtie and his bandoleer of spools of thread, so he’s still the same guy. The Hatter’s hat band is a bright pink and his coat is green rather than brown, not to mention in much better shape. This looks to be a formal occasion, however, so both the Hatter and Alice are a bit more dressed up than usual. Overall, the Hatter look is very similar to what we saw the last time around.
